  1. I think that grammar schools are good however, I think that more than one test could be taken. Males develop their intellect later than females so more than one test could be taken to see whether you should go to a secondary modern, second technical or a grammar school.

  2. Gramma schools have some advantages, but not enough to compete with the comprehensive schools.

    1. Advantages, such as?

What, in your opinion, makes Comprehensive Schools better than Grammar Schools?

    2. Going to grammar schools shows you already know a certain amount. It also gives you a higher opportunity for jobs because hirers will be looking for what school you went to, what exams you passed. So if you've already passed these exams to even get into the school, you will be in favour for work.

Comprehensive schools are better than grammar because it introduces a variety of people. It better socialises people.

  3. Grammar Schools are fair because at least you have some split of higher abilities which are taken full advantage of. However, whether or not you go to Grammar School should not be decided on ONE test at 11. And if males and females develop at different times then they should have this test at different times to decide if they can go to a Grammar School or not.
Grammar School also gives people with different abilities (e.g. Good with use of hands, rather than the logical side of things) more of a chance to do what suits them better.

  4. Grammar schools tend to be better than comprehensive schools but one fault is that the 11+ is taken to early so girls do better than boys and as a result of this some girls that pass have to be rejected simply to even out the boy to girl ratio.

  5. The grammar school realises students potential and develops it effectively. If your academic you go to a grammar school, if your practically skilled you go to a technical college. If your not either of them then it realises this and does the best thing for you and doesn't waste your time doing things your unable to do.

    1. that is so, but only one test is taken, maybe if more than one test was taken, it would be more effective. the only way to get better at things is to practise and you are saying that they don't waste your time doing things you are unable to do, girls get rejected from grammar schools as well and they accept boys who did not pass the 11+ test.

  6. The 11+ system isn't fair. This is because most of the people that passed the 11+ came from wealthier families, and therefore were able to afford help, such as tutors and revision books. This gave them an unfair advantage. Many people who did not pass the 11+ were still clever, however they did not have the advantage of a tutor. Males also had an advantage, as females tended to be smarter, however they were marked down so that there were equal amounts of gender in both secondary modern and grammar schools. Therefore it is not fair.

  7. It is true that Grammar schools give more opportunities to lower class children who pass the 11+, who now, in the comprehensive system would be less likely to get a higher paid job in politics. But, it does mean that those percentage of children able to get into grammar schools, who had to go to secondary modern schools would consider themselves failures. Although the Grammar school system has it's positives, I think that the comprehensive system we have today is more beneficial to society as a whole, and is overall a better education system.

  8. Comprehensive schools are better because they're bigger and can provide more facilities eg. Computer rooms. Also they teach all students together from one local area - Creating communities.

  9. I think grammar schools are good because children are split into their level of ability and the highest achievers can get the right education they need and the children that don't pass the 11+ can learn at their own pace and still get good education.

  10. In comprehensive schools, males and females all have the same chance so that they have the same choices and chances
